Mr. Ludwig organized an fun assembly for the elementary students. It was a reward for wrapping up the hockey unit and celebrating the fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association. The Flying Aces from Bloomington joined the kids and talked about education, training and healthy choices. The team also discussed the skills needed for hockey, along with the equipment. The assembly ended with a mini-game with players and students (chosen from the tickets earned from the PARCC drawing).
STEM Activity - The "E" in STEM stands for Engineering, and our 4th grade students built bridges utilizing only pennies. Certain height and width requirements had to be met, along with a freestanding time frame of at least 10 seconds. Students were then challenged to put Lego characters on top of their bridges to see if they could withstand some small weight. If successful, larger and more complex bridges were encouraged to be built.
