Mrs. Schultz takes Ridgeview National Honor Society and Student Council Members to 5 Points Theater, in Washington, IL.
Our students attended a conference, with keynote speaker Mike Smith, from 8:30am-12pm on school climate, making connections with peers and adults, and building character of students inside and outside the classroom. After the Jostens Renaissance conference, our students stayed for a separate conference with all students in the HOIC on IHSA Sportsmanship. They heard briefly again from Mike Smith and Steve Reschke, the President of the HOIC Executive Board. Mr. Reschke also addressed the students on relative topics to sportsmanship within our conference.
For over 25 years, Jostens has partnered with educators to renew school climate and culture through Jostens Renaissance® Education. Thousands of schools across North America are proud to call themselves “Jostens Renaissance” schools, sharing a sense of pride that is reflected in the results seen in improved academic performance, behavior, student engagement, and overall school spirit. These 18 Ridgeview students had the opportunity to listen to Mike Smith talk about focusing on the following tenets: building the character of students inside and outside the classroom; enhance and grow connections with peers, parents, experts, and all stakeholders; and create a culture of celebration of all achievements to inspire success for the future.
Who is Mike Smith?
From his humble beginnings in Imperial, NE, Mike has since founded two non-profits and influenced hundreds of thousands of youth in schools nationwide. Mike lives his life as a “professional teenager” that doubles as a youth motivational speaker and action sports personality. While other professional speakers struggle to remain current, Mike stays relevant by talking about what he’s doing, not what he’s done.

As we begin our first year with 1:1 Chromebooks, we are happy to see the students ability and sucess utilizing technology in the classroom. We are grateful to work in a district that can provide Chromebooks for every student. These devices better prepare children to succeed in a competitive technological world, and they make learning fun!
Join us on Wednesday, August 24 at 6:00pm in the HS Gym for an informational presentation regarding Ridgeview’s 1:1 Technology initiative. Chromebooks will be issued to students that evening provided a parent is present and the Chromebook Agreement is signed.
Please take time to read the Technology 1:1 Parent/Student Handbook and sign the Agreement, both linked below. Agreements will be available during the presentation as well.
View/Print Technology Handbook here.
Print Technology Agreement Here.
The presentation and issuing of Chromebooks to students should take no longer than 1.5 hours.
If you are unable to attend the presentation on August 24, please contact your school's office to make other arrangements.
As you may have heard, Ridgeview is going one to one!
All students grades K - 12 will be issued a Dell Chromebook 11, model 3120. We are asking that all students have a safe way of transporting their device between home and school. This could be a case, cover or a backpack with a built in sleeve for a laptop.
More information concerning the use of the Chromebooks will be shared at the 1:1 Student/Parent Orientation on August 24th from 6-7 PM in the HS Gym.
