What is your name, and why were you named that?
My first name is Benjamin. I was going to be Brian, but then my mother, while still pondering my name, watched a movie called Private Benjamin starring Goldie Hawn and decided to go with Benjamin instead.
What’s your favorite type of peanut butter?
I like all types of peanut butter. Recently, I have ventured into the “all natural” peanut butter and tried “sun butter” which is actually made from sunflower seeds. My son has a peanut allergy so I can't eat peanut butter as much as I would like. I was told that I make PB&J in an odd way, as I like to put peanut butter on both slices of bread with jelly in the middle. I don't put jelly on both slices though. That would be weird.
What’s your favorite candy?
My favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids, but I don't eat them anymore. I ate them so much one time and then went in for a health screening and my triglycerides shot through the roof. I stay away from them now, as I can't control myself when they are around.
What’s your favorite pokemon?
My favorite pokemon is Snorlax. He just falls asleep everywhere, and then everyone has to figure out what to do with him.
What was your first job?
My real first job was at a rendering plant. My friend’s dad offered me the job. I asked what a rendering plant was, and he said it was like a big recycling center. I thought, “okay, plastic, cardboard, etc. I can handle that.” No! A rendering plant is where they recycle animal parts that aren't used in food or clothing. They also recycle things like expired food products, like 50 Ib cubes of shortening that have gone bad. One time my boss came up to me waving a goat leg and carrying a horse’s head in the other arm. The worst thing ever was the giant truck of blood that used to come in every so often. Blood smells worse than just about anything. When I showed up for work the first day, they brought me to this boiler room and asked me to wait for 10 minutes. It was awful. It smelled horrible, and it was super hot. When I exited the room, he asked if I still wanted to work there. I said sure and worked there for two summers. My dad called it a character building job.
What’s your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Something about that movie makes it possible for me to watch it many many times and still not get bored. I love the soundtrack to that movie and all of the animation effects. (close second...Hot Fuzz. There’s something special about a movie where a cop takes on a bunch of shotgun wielding old people!)
What’s your favorite store?
My favorite store...is probably Amazon. I’d rather shop online than go to a store. Plus, it helps out in a pinch when I forget that a birthday or anniversary is coming up and I’m up shopping at 2AM.
