Garry Michael: Nominated by Mr. Ruiz. Overall, Garry has started the year off strong in my class. He always is in the best spirits with a smile on his face. There has yet to be a day where Garry hasn't stopped to talk to me and tell me about his day and I like being able to hear about how things are going. I truly enjoy having him in science class and cannot wait to see all the great things he does throughout the year!
Ian Moore/Gabe Ranta: Nominated by Mrs. Taylor. Ian Moore is a wonderful student to have in and outside of the classroom. Ian continually works hard in all of his classes and is a model student to others. He is always willing to help any teacher, staff member, or student. I have loved watching Ian go out of his way to help all of our new students get around Ridgeview.
Alex Schaefer: Nominated by Mrs. Tay and Mrs. McDowell. Alex is always smiling and he is willing to help everyone he meets. He works hard in classes and shows respect to all staff members and cares enough to ask everyone how they are doing.
On Monday, August 22nd, the entire district of Ridgeview was able to witness the partial solar eclipse here in Colfax. The entire school dismissed from their classes around 1pm, grabbed their glasses and headed outside to experience the partial eclipse at its maximum at 1:19pm. Using eclipse glasses and projection viewers, students were able to see the 92% coverage of the sun by the moon. Students noticed the drop in temperature, the darker sky, and the difference in the shadows. Some students used their solar eclipse glasses as a filter for taking pictures of this amazing event!
Dear Parents and Guardians of Ridgeview C.U.S.D. #19 students,
The second week of school this year comes with a unique learning opportunity for our students! On Monday, August 21, 2017, a solar eclipse will be visible across all of North America. Although there are some parts of Illinois where a total eclipse will be visible, only a partial eclipse will be visible in our area.
Since the eclipse will take place during the first full week of student attendance, many teachers will likely take the students out to view it. Your student must have a signed paper copy turned into the office or an electronically signed permission slip on file to view the eclipse at school.
Log into Family Access to electronically sign the permission slip.
