Ridgeview Board of Education announced Tuesday evening that they have voted unanimously to hire Mr. Erik Young as the new Superintendent of Ridgeview CUSD #19. Mr. Young was selected from a nationwide poll of many qualified candidates. Mr. Young is looking forward to leading the Ridgeview district of around 600 students from the eastern McLean County towns of Anchor, Arrowsmith, Colfax, Cooksville and Saybrook. Mr. Young was raised close to our school district and has worked in rural school districts his entire career. He has an understanding of the values important to the communities serving our districts. Ridgeview School Board and staff are pleased to welcome Mr. Young and look forward to working with him.
Mr. Young will begin his new position July 1, 2019. Mr. Young is originally from Fairbury, Illinois so he and his family are excited to relocate back to the area to live and work in our excellent school and community. Mr. Young is currently the principal at Sullivan High School in Sullivan, Illinois. Before promotion to the principal position he was Middle School and High School Assistant Principal from 2009-2013. He has classroom experience as Middle School and High School teacher at Riverton CUSD #14 from 2003-2009. Mr. Young received his Bachelors in Health/Business Administration, Master’s in Education Administration and a Superintendent’s license from Eastern Illinois University. Mr. Young will replace interim Superintendent Dr. Steve Epperson. The Ridgeview community is very thankful to Dr. Epperson, a retired Superintendent who stepped in to lead the district for the 2018-2019 school year. Comments are closed.
