Ridgeview Elementary has decided to hold a Read-A-Thon this year!
Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-A-Thon starts Monday April 14, 2025.
We will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/RdZUvT/1?utm=email and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-A-Thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
Funds raised through our Read-A-Thon will go towards celebrations and events for students. These events include the rock wall and dunk tank for field day, author visits and assemblies, field trips, and more!
We hope EVERYONE participates!
Thanks so much,
Ridgeview Elementary

1st grade had our nursing students do a lesson today about brushing their teeth. They learned how many times to brush their teeth a day, what song to sing while brushing their teeth and what foods are good or bad for their teeth. They were also given a goodie bag to take home. Thank you for helping us learn about how important it is to brush our teeth!

Spring break is here---and so are a new round of books in the free library! Stop by the school and enjoy some reading over break! No need to return--enjoy!

Please mark your calendars for April 7th-11th. Ridgeview students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking our annual Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) and students in grade 5 will be taking the Illinois Science Assessment (ISA) testing.
Our 4th grade annual Market Day production is underway on student made items. We can't wait to see what the end products will look like!

Mrs. McCarty's 2nd graders shared
their career presentations with Mrs. Helmig's kindergarten class!! They were wonderful listeners!

Our friends at The Peppered Pig have put together a discounted menu for kids and will be open every day next week (except Monday) for lunch and dinner. If you are in Colfax during Spring Break and looking for something to eat be sure to stop in!

Lots to celebrate today! Mustangs making their community proud!

Don't forget to register any Kindergarten thru 5th grader for the Ridgeview Baseball Camp on Saturday, April 12th - turning in the registration form by March 31st guarantees a t-shirt! This event is being put on by the High School Baseball Team to teach local youth about baseball. Registration is just $20. Flyers were sent home with all Ridgeview Elementary students earlier this month. For more information please email Coach Mal: amalinoswski@ridgeview19.org

Families of students in grades 3, 4, and 5, please mark your calendars for April 7-11. Our students will be taking the IAR test on those days. Please do your best to avoid scheduling appointments on that day if possible. A great night's sleep and a healthy breakfast help students get off to a good start for the rest of the day!

It may have been a blustery stormy day--but we caught a lucky rainbow today!

Marshall helps kids learn lots of different skills in the counseling office. Here you can see him playing Memory with a student and he even got a few matches!
