Did you know this week is National School Bus Safety Week?
Parents, it’s important to talk to your children about bus stop safety.
Here are some tips:
Before the Bus Arrives -
*Your child should arrive at the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus arrives.
*Visit the bus stop and show your child where to wait for the bus, at least 10 feet (5 giant steps) away from the curb.
*Remind your child the bus stop is not a place to run or play.
Getting On and Off Safely -
*When the school bus arrives, your child should wait until the bus comes to a complete stop, the door opens, and the driver says it’s okay to get on or off.
*Your child should use the handrails to avoid falling.
Always Use Caution Around the Bus -
*Your child should never walk behind a school bus.
*If your child must cross the street in front of the bus, tell them to walk on a sidewalk or along the side of the street to a place at least 10 feet (5 giant steps) in front of the bus before crossing.
*Your child should also make eye contact with the bus driver before crossing to make sure the driver can see that they’re crossing to avoid the danger zone.
*If your child drops something near the school bus, like a phone or book, the safest thing is for your child to tell the bus driver right away. Your child should not try to pick up the item, because the driver might not be able to see them.

Today, our High School PE classes participated in a Stop the Bleed training presented by the National Guard, learning valuable lifesaving skills in emergency bleeding control.
Fall means pumpkin flavors! Mrs. Moreland's classes tasted different pumpkin flavored food. A survey in math collected data to determine the most popular pumpkin flavored treat, and ELA classes wrote about their favorite.

Living to Serve 💙 These 3 attended the Section 9 Midwest Food Bank last night. They started the night with a question and answer panel and then they spent 2 hours packaging pretzels to be sent out to Food Pantries.

With a guaranteed position in the playoffs, we are pleased to announce the opening of the official Playoff Apparel Store.
The store is currently active and will remain open until 9:00 AM on Thursday, October 23rd. This deadline ensures that all orders will be completed and distributed by October 29th or 30th, allowing the apparel to be worn for the first round of playoff competition.
Please note that this is the only playoff apparel store scheduled at this time. Should the team advance to the later rounds of the playoffs, the possibility of establishing a subsequent store will be re-evaluated.
Further details regarding the collection and distribution of ordered items will be communicated in a follow-up message at a later date.

The past few weeks have been busy in the Ridgeview FFA!
Last week we had 12 first year Greenhand FFA members attend the U of I Greenhand Conference. Members were split up into groups where they learned about personality types, goal setting, and leadership skills. They also had the chance to meet new people and make so many connections! We are excited to see the next step of this group's FFA Career!

This week we attended the Section 9 Leadership Training School and Greenhand Fire Up. Max Mason, one of our officers attended the workshops to learn new ideas and skills to bring back to the chapter! While he was in his workshop our 6 greenhands attended the Fire Up with our State FFA Treasurer Kaydance Wooton. They played games that allowed them to practice their team building and communication skills!🔵🟡🔵
