December 21, 2023 Dear parents/guardians, Today, we were made aware of an alleged threat of violence against the school posted to social media. We immediately involved our School Resource Officer, who was already onsite, to investigate the incident. Out of an abundance of caution we also involved the McLean County Sheriff’s Department, and kept all students and staff indoors. Law enforcement identified and contained the source of the alleged threat and assured us that at no time were our students or staff in danger. We have been assured by law enforcement that students and staff are safe to attend school and that there is no ongoing threat from this situation. Please do not be alarmed by the additional visibility of law enforcement and our School Resource Officer tomorrow as student and staff safety is our top priority. I want to thank the Colfax Police Department, the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, and everyone who had a part in quickly resolving this situation. Sincerely, Erik Young Superintendent Ridgeview CUSD #19

Mr. Hutley was recently recognized by the Illinois Principals Association for his involvement in the School Leader Network (third from right). The cohort was designed to support principals in their professional development as school leaders. He was one of six principals in the State to complete this training! Thank you to Mr. Hutley for going above and beyond to improve Ridgeview Schools!

Ridgeview Community, It is with deep sadness that I inform you about a tragic accident that has resulted in a significant loss in our schools and in our community. Today (Saturday), a student passed away after being involved in an accident. Our district is committed to doing everything we can to help our students with the grieving and healing process. To that end, we have activated our crisis counseling team to be at our schools tomorrow (Sunday) from 12:00pm to 3:00pm in the Media Center. Loss like this can impact everyone in our school family and in the Ridgeview Community. Students may have a difficult time dealing with the loss, and we encourage you to talk with your child. At this time, the district will not be releasing the name of the student out of respect for the privacy of the families. Please continue to keep these families and students in your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate your continued support of our students. Sincerely, Erik Young Superintendent Ridgeview C.U.S.D. #19
